[Mobile Gaming] How Riot Games is now fighting hordes of fake mobile games with its new game 'Wildrift'
“You’re playing games on your phone right? Do you also play Candy Crush? I heard of that one guy who spent 100k on microtransactions lol.”. For PC gamers, mobile gaming is known for its casual games and greedy game design. Really, no one wants to trade a pc game for a mobile game when it comes to paying fair prices for ingame items. And they’re right. The story I’m about to tell you contains all of the darkest and most damned necromancy from the mobile gaming underworld, such as greedy microtransaction, unbalanced gameplay and blatantly obvious plagiarism, manifested in the form of a game called Mobile Legends. Right now, this game is in a war with Riot Games’ Wildrift, both communities fighting over which game to play. But how did we get there? In this write up, I’ll give you a rundown on the history of mobile mobas and how we ended up here, in this war. Terms to know Before I begin, I’ll explain a few crucial terms to understand this story to you. MOBA (Multiplayer online battle arena) is a subgenre of strategy video games in which each player controls a single character called a champion with a set of unique abilities that improve over the course of a game and which contribute to the team's overall strategy. The ultimate objective is for each team to destroy their opponents' main structure, located at the opposite corner of the battlefield. (Quoted in parts from Wikipedia) Skin is a change in appearance which can be equipped on a champion to make him look different. Very often they feature interesting thematics, eg. a medieval theme. League of Legends, developed by Riot Games, is the single most popular Moba game on the Pc and is often abbreviated as LoL. Moontoon The developer of Mobile Legends. The Birth of Mobile Mobas Let me introduce you to the godfather of mobile mobas, Vainglory. Released in 2014 by Super Evil Megacorp, short SEMC, it instantly set the standards of what top tier mobile gaming looks like. With Vainglory, SEMC caught lightning in a bottle. Vainglory was the first pc-quality moba on mobile devices and well recognized in the mobile gaming community. What Vainglory had to offer were the best graphics in the industry, a group of top tier developers from companies like Blizzard, and on top of everything a very fair monetization scheme - something of a novelty in mobile games, where shameless pay to win schemes are the norm. Throughout 2015 to 2017 Vainglory saw incredible growth. Where mobas were almost nonexistent on mobile devices before, Vainglory blew up as it was frequently featured on the AppStore and was beloved by the players. It introduced lots of mobile gamers, who would otherwise never have played a moba, to the genre and created the moba genre for mobile devices. The players knew that SEMC were pouring their soul into forging a revolutionary game, which also stands in contrast to the utter greed which has established itself in mobile gaming. Fans paid for skins ingame not only because they loved the designs, but also because they genuinely wanted to support their developers. To this day, Vainglory is one of the all time fan favorites of mobile mobas. Throughout 2015 and 2016 Vainglory had its golden age. But the tides were shifting. A storm was brewing and change was coming as a new competitor entered the scene… LoL clones! LoL clones everywhere! In late 2017, three years after Vainglory’s launch, with increasing momentum, a legion of fake LoL Mobas was emerging from dark corners of china. It’s demon leader was called Mobile Legends. To be exact: ‘Mobile Legends: Bang Bang’’. Let me explain how hundreds of LoL fakes successfully sprouted out of nowhere at that time: Vainglory was basically the option in the moba market when it came to mobile devices. But as more and more mobile gamers discovered mobas, they too wanted to be part of what a fully fledged Moba had to offer. They wanted more. And looking at what League of Legends, the most popular pc moba, had to offer, this meant a 5v5 map and gamemode, which Vainglory didn’t offer as it’s only 3v3. Not only that, but also these new Moba games used joystick controls compared to the tap controls Vainglory had to offer. Joystick controls were less precise but were far easier and more comfortable to use, and ultimately turned out to be the players favorite controls. Besides a larger map and new control schemes, they also looked quite familiar to Riot Games League of Legends: Map Comparison: LoL - Mobile Legends The picture above shows League of Legends and Mobile Legends in direct comparison. Mobile Legends became popular, because LoL not available on mobile devices, and games like Mobile Legends openly copied, stole and plagiarised it’s map, champions and skins. It wasn’t even done in a disguised way: They used the similarities as their marketing. Here are some more comparisons juxtaposing the two games, try to look for similarities! A playable character: Champion Comparison: Garen The Logo Logo Comparison: LoL - Mobile Legends Another ingame Screenshot: Gameplay: LoL - Mobile Legends A bigger 5v5 game mode, more comfortable controls and copying LoL for mobile devices meant that Mobile Legends & Co exploded in 2017 and the following weeks and months. During that time, when Mobile Legends was soaking up players from everywhere, the beloved game which created mobas for mobile devices, Vainglory, lost more and more players as the devs failed to respond to the new 5v5 mobile moba market with a well made 5v5 mode in time. With its success came big bucks for Mobile Legends developer MoonToon. But surely, a game with lower quality than the pc game which it's trying to mimic will certainly mean lower in-app prices for its skins, right? While it takes you 80 hours of grind to unlock one of a hundred champions, you can also pay around 10$. Skins are more complicated to obtain. While in mobas like Vainglory or LoL you can pay around 20$ for a legendary skin, which is the best you can get, in mobile legends legendary skins are obtained through spinning a magic wheel. The community roughly agrees that a legendary skin will set you back about 200$ each. Unlocking all champions without spending real money would cost you 8000 ingame hours actively playing the game. Even it’s own community and fans complain about unreasonably high prices and grind for ingame items, but their voices are drowned by the noise of the money machinery the ingame shop has become. Mobile Legends earned 116 Million$ in 2017, the first year of its growth and every single year after, their earnings increased even more. With the former mobile moba champion Vainglory being defeated by Mobile Legends and the hordes of lol duplicates, there was no competition left. But of course these changes didn’t go unnoticed. Riot Games didn’t want to let copycats earn millions of dollars with rip offs of League of Legends for smartphones, so they wanted to end Mobile Legends. A dark era for mobile mobas In the same year as Mobile Legends release, in 2017, Riot Games found out what Moontoon was doing to its franchise on mobile devices and decided they had enough. They filed a lawsuit over 40 pages, demonstrating how Mobile Legends and other game developers stole their game. The lawsuit hit the Mobile Legends community with a bang: At the time, players were discussing if this meant the death of Mobile Legends, but it was also unclear how effective a lawsuit against a chinese company would be. Time passed and no update was given, when one year later, in 2018, it was announced that Riot Games won the lawsuit and were awarded $2.9M. It was a huge victory and meant that Mobile Legends had finally received a charge for its plagiarism. And it looks like Mobile Legends will stop copying after losing in court against Riot Games, as their doings were declared illegal, right? In the same year and throughout 2019 Mobile Legends grew in popularity and revenue as it pumped out and waves of new content. They changed up their strategy slightly, copying less obvious, but it was still clear to everyone which game they're mimicking. The truth is, even though they were hit with a $2.9M lawsuit, there still was no actual competitor in the market who could threaten Mobile Legends, it was still the number one mobile moba, with a revenue of now over 159M $. And with that, 80h playtimes for unlocking a champion, unbalanced gameplay and 200$ for a legendary skin continued to be the norm for gamers in mobile mobas. Mobile Legends took a hit from the lawsuit, but it was still going very well. But while the sky of the mobile moba landscape was darkening by the months and Mobile Legends was continuing to grow its empire, in October of 2019, suddenly a sun flare peaked through the dark sky. Wildrift vs Mobile Legends In the middle of October 2019, Riot Games announced it’s new title: ‘League of Legends: Wildrift’ - short ‘Wildrift’. This was Riots answer to Mobile Legends, a verdict to the Mobile Legends misdeeds: Real League of Legends for mobile devices. Graphics comparable to its pc representative. Champions directly from League of Legends and all the great controls for mobile devices. It was League on mobile devices. To Mobile Legends players who were sick of the rough seas of unbalanced games it was a haven, for the tired eyes of dull graphics it was Jesus curing their blindness and for gamers whos wallets have been sucked empty it was a gold mine. But how did Riots' new game set itself apart from the rest of the mobile moba games? First of all, Wildrift is the original. It is a direct representation of LoL made for mobile devices and therefore is the closest a mobile gamer will ever get to a fully fledged moba on his phone. Secondly the game looks great. It’s comparable to the pc version and lightyears ahead of what its competitors look like. And thirdly, Riot Games offers a very fair monetization scheme: Around 10$ for a skin, decent prices for champions and lots of free champion- and skin-chests, something which is completely unheard of in Mobile Legends. After Wildrifts announcement and during its open beta in mid 2020, as Riots new title was substantializing from a trailer to a real game, surely everybody would love the game, which seems objectively better in every aspect. The Battle Mobile Legends had a new competitor in the market. It was evident that Wildrift was holding better cards for the future, so after Wildrifts announcement Moontoon knew that they were on a ship that’s sinking. They decided to grab their weapons and take the offence onto Wildrift. Arguments on reddit broke out. They were not very productive. Gamers, mostly kids and teenagers, having arguments about the two games were not very practical and often took the form of calling each other idiots for liking one game more than another, and arguments started and ended with ‘fuck Wildrift’ or ‘fuck Mobile Legends’. On the development side Moontoon was shifting course: The moment the closed beta for Wildrift started, all of a sudden Mobile Legends started giving away a few free skins to its players. Players noticed Moontoon doing things they would not have done for the community before. The other day, rumors spread that Moontoon was actively review bombing Wildrift on the Google Playstore. This couldn’t be proven 100%, but weirdly enough, about one week after a reddit post pointed out the bad reviews, they disappeared again. And this is the track we're on right now. Wildrift is opening its beta program in more and more countries around the globe, spending lots of money on advertising the game to players. It’s seeing very good reviews and looks at huge growth. Mobile Legends on the other hand sees its future going downhill. If Moontoon won’t introduce great changes to its game, it probably won’t last for a long time. It’s got a huge player base in South East Asia going for it, but they too are noticing Wildrift and its advantages and will try out the new game, so it’s just a matter of time until Moontoon has to act. What lies ahead Right now, Wildrift has to prove itself as the better game. Also we’ll have to see if Mobile Legends can retain its huge player base by updating Mobile Legends with appealing content. The mobile moba market is very lucrative, so you can expect both developers to clash for all customers. So with that, the game is on! Additionally to this write-up, there will soon be a video on GenieYT YouTube about this story. This write-up is a pre-release script of an upcoming video. Check it out if you're interested! Jumpy Stutter in Half Life: Alyx using Quest 2 with official Link cable
(27 Jan) EDIT: I have now tested using more games both in SteamVR and Oculus and the problem is happening regardless of game and platform. It even happens in games like Rec Room which should run ridiculously easily. I'm having some strange stuttering problems when playing Half-Life: Alyx using oculus link and thought I would post here to try to get some help and see if anyone else has experienced similar problems. Basically, I am experiencing a stranger stutter or graphical jumping while playing the game however this only happens when using controller-based turning. What I mean by this is that it doesn't seem to be caused or happen simply from turning my head and looking around with the headset tracking, but instead is limited only to turning using the controllers' joystick. I am using the smooth turning and locomotion settings while experiencing this. I have been extensively testing this to try to narrow down causes and solutions and have a fair amount to report. Firstly, my PC specs are as follows: Ryzen 5 5600x MSI X570-a PRO motherboard RTX 3060ti 2x8gb Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro @ 3200 MHz Using an Oculus Quest 2 with the official Oculus Link Cable, running at 2.5 - 2.8Gbps when using the USB Test tool. (it seems to fluxuate between these values) My pc build is pretty new as I only recently got my hands on the new CPU and GPU (and motherboard), however I have all the latest drivers/bios updates/all other related software things that I could need to ensure everything is working as up to date as possible. After doing a lot of testing surrounding this stuttering I can rule out a number of causes as to what could be causing it: Firstly the stuttering appears to happen reguardless of the settings the game is set to. It appears to occur just as frequently on fully min settings as it does fully max settings. At first I though it may be happening very (and I mean VERY) slightly less on lower settings but it seems almost exactly the same so its hard to tell. On top of this, render resolution settings in the Oculus app and SteamVR do not appear to make any noticable difference at all. I tested using render resolutions of 1.3x, 1.2x and automatic. On all 3 settings, the stutter when turning appear to happen equally as frequently. From my understanding, my hardware should easily be able to run Alyx at high/ultra settings with a small amount of super-sampling like 1.2/1.3x resolution (I know alyx also uses its own dynamic resolution scaling too). I have also tested using different bitrates in the OculusDebugTool. I have recently started to use a custom bitrate of 350 as I find it much better and am particualy sensitive to compression artifacting. I though this could be a cause but I tested using this number and the default 0 or 'automatic' setting. Neither appeared to make a noticable difference. I even bought fpsVR to try to monitor if there was any abnormalities in my fps, or frametime or any other statistics monitored when the stuttering happened, but as far as I could tell while monitoring this, it didnt seem to have much if any correlation at all. Sometimes I observed a slight jump in frametime but it didnt seem consistent or correlated with the stuttering so again I concluded that there was no noticable abnormalitiy with my GPU and that this frametime spike was a separate and somewhat normal observation not linked to the stuttering. I have also tried other solutions I found online such as having all GPU overclocking and RGB software closed but that made no difference at all either. Also should probably note that my CPU/GPU are running at stock speeds. I havent overclocked at all. What is interesting is that when I first played through HL: Alyx, it was using my old GTX 1070ti, and while I had to run the game at a much lower graphics setting and render resolution, I dont believe it ever had this stuttering, at least I never noticed it and I cant say that I wouldnt given how noticable it is now. This leads me to question if it is a problem with the RTX 30 series or 3060ti specifically. I did read online about there being some problem with the latest Nvidia drivers and VR, but apparently from what I can tell that has been somewhat fixed with the latest driver release which I have. Also, it doesnt seem to ever happen in other games from what I have noticed, but to be fair I dont own many other PCVR titles anyway. On SteamVR I only have Phasmophobia and VRChat ontop of Alyx, and I havent played them recently to know if the problem occurs with them too. On Oculus I have more games, but the only one I have played recently at all is Beatsaber, but I can confirm it definitly does not stutter at all playing that as I play almost every day. This also be because when I play Beatsaber, its not going through SteamVR as well as the oculus software, unlike ALyx. I think this is all the information I can give. Ive been doing a lot of testing to try to find a cause but I just cant seem to find any solutions/notiable improvements. I hope someone can help, and if this is a problem you are having/had too, it would be great to hear if you have found any solutions/ what its like for you. Sorry this post is long but I wanted to cover every detail I have already tried. Just trying to do the Gnome run to the vault achievement without stutter... :'( Thanks for reading.
EDIT: Wanted to give an update since I mentioned I get connection drops. I've been playing various games on Stadia for the past two days without a single connection drop after wiring up the CCU. I had one small network blip maybe yesterday but since the CCU is wired now it came back almost instantly. Seems to be working great for the past couple days and I expected massive network saturation due to the Christmas holidays, even bought a disgusting amount of games in the recent sale. Long story short, I've been waiting for an Xbox Series S to be in stock forever, and an RX 6800, and well you know the rest. I decided to give Stadia a really good try and so far it's been excellent. The connection does drop sometimes, but I have my CCU wired so it comes back immediately. I bought Cyberpunk and got the free premier edition and I have to say, it's a completely different experience than playing on a web browser. Basically Stadia has become my new next-gen gaming console and it's awesome! The CCU is more reliable, more stable, and overall more enjoyable to use than playing through a web browser. Yes you can force 1440p and 4k through extensions, but the CCU is just rock solid in terms of quality and stability. The controller, wow, I love it, it fits my hands perfectly, the joysticks feel great, the quality is top notch and the wifi connection reduces latency enough that you can simply adapt and use the latency like it's a part of your joystick deadzone. The biggest advantage I've found is no longer needing to install some of the games on my PC that could be taking up a significant amount of space, such as Elder Scrolls Online. I can play ESO with PC players, and I own it and Greymoor on Stadia, so why would I want to download and install 150GB of data to my PC when I can just stream it and be up and running instantly? Right now I have a gaming PC, Xbone S, and Switch, and Stadia has gotten more playtime in the past week than anything else I own, it's amazing. Does the connection drop every so often? Yes. Is there noticeable latency even when using the Stadia controller? Yes. Can you realistically adapt to the latency and eventually get to a point where it's a non-issue? Yes. Stadia is great, and I hope the Stadia team continues to build on the technology in ways that are innovative and beneficial. Things like, buffering static assets that don't need to be loaded in real-time such as textures for levels or skyboxes. I would also like to see more crossplay, I know that's up to the devs, but helping those devs achieve that crossplay functionality would be great.
8BitDo Wireless USB Adapter / Retro Receiver - PSA
This is still a work in progress, but I'm hoping I can put this here for others to reference before and after buying/using the 8BitDo USB receiver. Strengths and use cases: - Using 3rd party or non-supported controllers directly on the Nintendo Switch, PS-Classic, Sega Genesis/Mega Drive Mini. - Using various controllers within Windows/Mac/Linux for applications that may not have native support for the controller. (Or missing drivers) - Using various controllers without the need for 'mappers' or controller emulators, as the Adapter supports multiple operational modes (See below) and the ability to remap the buttons with the latest v2.00 firmware. (Various bugs reported with v2.00) Alternative solutions suggested for: - Using Bluetooth controllers in Steam. The wide controller support usually results in more features being supported when using a standard Bluetooth connection (built-in or dongle). Examples: PlayStation and Nintendo Switch Pro controllers offer the ability to use the 'Gyro' within Steam. ** Note that not all bluetooth is the same. Some drivers, and/or chipsets may cause input lag, frequent disconnects, or inability to pair the controller(s). Limitations: - Joystick calibration/sensitivity may be lacking compared to 'native' support of a specific controller. - Can only pair a single controller at a time. (Yes, this means only one Joy-Con at a time) - Poor official support - Frequent Firmware related issues. Common Fixes: - Generic problems. Try the latest firmware and do a 'factory reset' by holding sync for 5s. - Generic continued. Try to downgrade to a previously well known firmware like v1.30 or v1.33. - Nintendo Switch does not detect the controller. Make sure 'Wired Pro Controller Communications' is enabled. (Read the Manual) You may also need to do a 'factory reset'. - PC/MAC/Linux game does not detect the 'controller'. After pairing, attempt to switch the 'mode' with the table below. You may need to reconnect the controller to the receiver after changing the mode. (XInput and DInput are the most commonly used) Mode Select: Hold 'Select' (or '-') and the listed key for 3 seconds - DPAD_Up : X-Input (Xbox Controller ID . VID_045E&PID_028E) V1.11+ - DPAD_Left : Direct Input (8BitDo Controller . VID_2DC8&PID_3100) V1.11+ - DPAD_Down : PS1_Classic [Digital] (VID_054C&PID_0CDA) V1.21+ - DPAD_Right : "Mac Mode" DualShock4 (VID_054C&PID_05C4) V1.11+ - DPAD_Up+DPAD_Left : "Sega" Generic Digital Gamepad (VID_0079&PID_0011) V1.28+ - L1 : Switch Pro (VID_057E&PID_2009) ** ** Does not stay in this mode. Not documented. in update notes

Advanced Captura Tutorial | A Step-by-step Guide on How to Get High-Quality Shots
• In this Tutorial, I will be laying out a 10 Step Guide on how to get high quality captura shots. The tutorial will include a wide range of techniques, combinations, general advice and a short guide on how to use ReShade to further enhance your captura quality. Keep in mind, these are the steps I personally follow in making my capturas, nothing is mandatory, you may choose to do things differently. • I will also include some of my ReShade presets down below which you can use as a starting point. • There will be a Q&A section following this tutorial that expands on a few points in the guide. • Although this guide is more focused on PC, most of it still applies for Consoles. Aside from Step 1 & Step 10, everything else applies for both PC & Console. https://preview.redd.it/2ufspccu5v861.png?width=3676&format=png&auto=webp&s=5ab7c628c8f772edc93f0698213d7901cef9e32a
Step 1: Resolution, Resolution, Resolution…
One of the keys to high-quality shots is 4K res. If your GPU can give you at least 20-30FPS at 4K in Warframe then you’ll be fine. Remember, you’re taking a shot not playing the game, FPS does not matter, you can switch it back to Native res once you’re done. Even if you have a 1080p monitor, you will see a prominent bump in quality once you switch your game to 4K. So how do we switch to 4K? Easy. Depending on your GPU (Nvidia or AMD) you will need to do one of these two:
Nvidia: Go to Nvidia Control Panel > Change Resolution > Customize > Create Custom Resolution > Change Horizontal Pixels to 3840 > Change Vertical Lines to 2160 > Leave rest as is.
AMD: Right click on Desktop > Select AMD Radeon Software > Settings > Display > Turn on Virtual Super Resolution > Right click on Desktop > Change Screen Resolution > Select 3840 x 2160.
Now in the Warframe game Menu go to Display and change resolution to 3840 x 2160.
Bonus Step: You can further enhance your image quality with some dedicated tools in both Nvidia and AMD:
Nvidia: Image Sharpening. Sharpening enhances your image quality without creating much noise like what some 3rd party softwares do. Try out this preset first then play with the sharpness level until satisfied with image quality. There is no fixed “best” preset because this will depend on your monitor. So I advise increasing sharpness until the outcome fits you best.
AMD: AMD also offers a sharpening tool that can further enhance your images.Just go to Settings > Graphics and enable Radeon Image Sharpening and adjust the bar until satisfied with the image quality.
One mistake some players often make is presuming that scenes offer similar image qualities. Sadly that is untrue, scenes heavily impact your image’s quality depending on its lighting and any added visual effects. Some scenes offer little to no lighting like the Chroma Key Scene which I highly advise against unless you’re recording a video for editing. For Photoshop editing, I strongly recommend you pick a scene with enough edges and corners because they will serve as a reference when you want to change the background, so both layers may have similar perspectives. Here are a few scenes I highly recommend for certain vibes:
Outdoor, Sunlight, Natural Setting:
Cetus Scene
Plains of Eidolon Scene
Dog Days Scene
Water, Vegetation, Ambient Setting:
Silver Grove Shrine Scene (one of the best in the game)
Futuristic, Artificial Light, Cyberpunk Setting:
Fortuna Scene
Chamber of the Lotus Scene
Suda’s Datascape Scene
Focused Light, Smooth Shadows, Cinematic Setting:
Deck 12 Scene
Harrow’s Temple Scene
Corpus Depository Scene
Corpus Ship Bridge Scene
Dark, Minimal Light, Sinister Setting:
Sentient Basin Scene
Veil’s Binding Scene
Hunhow’s Chamber Scene
Scenes to avoid (in my opinion):
Most Sentient Map Scenes: Bland lighting and overly enhanced Shadows.
The War Within Choice Scene: The added visual effects will make your shots blurry.
Infested Ship Hologram Scene: Overrides your Warframe Colors due to strong lighting.
Granum Void Scene: Also overrides Colors, and has very high contrast.
Inaros Tomb Scene: Bland lighting and textures.
Umbra’s Courtyard Scene: It’s not bad per se, it's just not as good as the rest.
Keep in mind these are not the only good scenes, these are just the ones I found to be most effective at delivering certain vibes while maintaining high image quality.
Step 3: Determining Your Fashion Theme
Knowing what you want from your captura shot saves you a substantial amount of time and effort. One of the keys to a successful shot is a clear theme, not necessarily a Cosplay, but any distinguishable theme that can be identified promptly by looking at the shot. There is no shame in taking inspiration from other games, artworks or any character you’ve come across. Inspiration can be taken from a wide variety of online content, from color palettes to illustrations. It is always a good idea to have something to look back at when working on your captura. When you have a reference, you will skip through the daunting process of testing a plethora of positions and vibes to get something you might publish. The amount of time and effort I saved by simply adopting a reference had allowed me to explore multiple themes within the same captura session. I strongly advise taking inspiration from an existing image before proceeding into Captura. For example, take these two shots of my operator. For the first, I spent twice the time as the second, but never managed to get a good shot because I was randomly going through poses I remember and trying to find a good angle. For the second, I knew I wanted an operator holding something in his hand and a dark scene with a fire to reflect a Dark Souls vibe. I took inspiration from the Firekeeper in DS3, and that saved me a lot of time, I was then able to edit in a few sparks and a white flame to make it more authentic (despite that not being in DS3). The consistency of the theme had allowed me to easily experiment with more effects without affecting image quality. Also, keep in mind both images are using similar Fashion setups: https://preview.redd.it/c5lxfl6pkr461.jpg?width=1701&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7d30f974c329dbce3a2ca0fcf05517f98dc344d1
Step 4: Understanding Skin Textures
Skin Textures reflect light differently, thus needing different light settings. No single scene can show 2 different skins or Warframes in the same quality unless they have similar textures. It is important to first evaluate the material that is most dominant in your Warframe’s appearance and adapt your lighting accordingly. For example, polished textures like in Mag’s Orbit Skin, Nyx’s Aurelia Skin, Oberon’s Youkai Skin, Volt’s Zener Skin and Ivara’s Youkai Skin require less lighting than rougher textures like Revenant’s Vanilla Skin for example. Smooth textures allow for a clearer gradient of shade which gives your captura shot a much richer spectrum of shades thus a much more realistic look. However, some skins can be a pain to capture correctly, especially those that have a combination of more than one texture. Let’s take Nidus’s Deluxe as an example, it has a very unique ‘Rough Metal’ texture to it that looks like worn out steel when colored dark, but looks quite organic when colored white. When dark, it absorbs too much light and is often hard to see clearly, so in this shot I needed to shine a decent volume of sunlight on it to make it more visible: https://preview.redd.it/zt1adu4qkr461.jpg?width=2889&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9e4c888431ca48baaf81839d46576486a56732d3
Step 5: Setting Up Your Camera
First, set up your pose. If you know what kind of position you need to be in (holding something, looking somewhere, doing a certain action…etc) then this should not be too difficult. Just remember, it is often impossible to get the exact pose you have in mind, so try to widen your criteria as much as you can. You have a huge menu of animations to choose from, here’s a list of what you can use (with YouTube Links):
Additionally, you also have Emotes, Melee Combos (depending on Stance Mod) & Normal Movement Mechanics.
After you get the pose that you want, and Memorize how to repeat it, you can now proceed and begin composing your shot. Setting the Camera:
Depth of Field: I recommend switching it off. The value it adds is less than what it takes (it blurs out Warframe edges), you may use ReShade’s DoF if you really want a very specific cinematic DOF effect, otherwise DoF is not essential. Additionally, scene backgrounds add context to your shot, which I think is integral for Captura.
Field of View: Set it to 0. This I believe is essential. I sometimes use ReShade’s Perspective Modifier to lower the FoV even more. Less FoV = Clearer Shot + Better Camera Perspective.
Detach Camera: Once your screen is positioned well and everything you need is in the frame of the shot, click on detach camera. This is important if you want to avoid redoing everything when you want to change a color or gear part. Once you do this, going into the game menu will not do anything to the warframe’s position or camera, only hitting the keyboard may ruin it.
Advanced Camera Controls are still very unpredictable and really hard to time. They are only needed for videos so you can ignore them for now.
DO NOT at any time press at “Look at Character” when adjusting your settings, it will move the Camera position (not angle). Meaning you will need to exit the menu and relocate the Camera again.
Slow Motion: Remember, there are 5 different Slow-mo speeds, so you do not need to sit 5 minutes waiting for your character to get to a certain position if the animation is already slow enough.
Advance Time: You do not need to exit the settings menu to do this. Just select “Toggle Advanced Time” then press on “Advance Time” from within the menu and your Warframe will continue its animation while you’re still in the settings menu (instead of exiting and holding ‘T’ manually). This will save you the stress of going back and forth between the two menus.
Important Note: Always advance time even for a split second before setting up your lighting (Even if your Warframe is already positioned). Why? Because for some reason, Gamma increases when you first enter Captura in some maps. You will see that Brightness will slightly decrease once you press on Advance Time. This will greatly improve your shades, because if you don’t do this, later on you will see that some of your light adjustments don’t reflect what you’re seeing on the screen. It is essential you remove that unwanted layer of brightness before setting up the Scene’s Lights.
Step 6: Setting Up Your Lighting
Setting up the right angles of light helps in improving realism as it blends your frame into its environment, here’s what you need to know about setting up lighting:
Exposure + Scene Light: Setting up your scene will depend on the balance between these two options. I highly recommend setting Exposure to 10-20% and Scene Light to 40-50%. Here’s an example of how your shot will look when changing these two variables:
3 Light Setup: These are the artificial spotlights that you will use to make your frame more visible. Abusing them often results in loss of detail, so try to be conservative with the volume of light you use. Remember, the 3 Lights are dedicated to your frame, they will follow you and stay around you only, this means if you want to light other objects in the scene you will have to rely on natural light or get them close enough to your frame. Each of the three has a different angle and a different cone of light. This image from the Wiki illustrates the 3 Points well:
Main Light > High Intensity / Medium Angle / Wide Cone > Good for rough textures.
Fill Light > Medium Intensity / High Angle / Narrow Cone > Used as a utility.
Rim Light > Low Intensity / Low Angle / Wide Cone > Good for smooth textures.
Identify the direction of the scene light: This can be done by looking at any shadow and the light spots on objects, it is important to know where the scene’s light is coming from.
Identify the level of Light + Exposure your Warframe needs: This will depend on the skin’s texture & the overall theme you’re aiming for.
Shine the Main Light on your frame and switch off the rest.
Adjust levels and rotation until it lines up with the source light and doesn’t obscure any details.
Switch on only 1 of the other 2 and adjust levels until Warframe details are clear.
It is advised you keep 1 of the 3 Lights switched off otherwise they might minimize shade.
Light Colors: It is advised that you keep the Main Light color the same and change the rest to a color much closer to white or simply switch all to flat white (Smoke Palette) as a starting point, and from there you may begin experimenting with different gradients depending on the scene and skin textures.
I recommend against changing light colors to any high contrast color otherwise they will override your warframe’s colors which will also limit perception of details. Most palettes have a white color somewhere that is slightly tilted towards a certain color, those are the colors you want to choose from. For example, if you want a cold white-blue color you can choose the top-right color from the Fear palette. Bonus Tip: High Contrast Light Colors may have cool effects when used with Dark + Rough Warframe Textures, if your frame is using an all-black palette then you might want to experiment a bit with Light colors. Example: https://preview.redd.it/k5vlqufukr461.png?width=3840&format=png&auto=webp&s=fdc6264be93e4be849014e40917249d27a3d736b
Step 7: Setting Up Your Shades & Shadows
To achieve the desired level of realism, you need to ensure your frame has enough shades and shadows to compliment your lighting in a meaningful way. For this to be done, you will need to make a few minor tweaks to lighting levels and maybe some minor changes to rotation. You can get away with a slight mismatch between Natural Light & Artificial Light as long as you don’t drastically shift the direction of the Main Light. The important thing is to tilt the 3 Lights until enough details are visible on the frame. Additionally, there is the option of aligning one of the other 2 Lights to the source light if it’s dim enough to be simulated through the Rim Light or Fill Light. The next image illustrate this concept in a simple way. The rotation + intensity changes show how simple shifts in light rotations were greatly impacting shot quality, despite the shifts not being drastic, you can clearly see a noticeable jump in quality and clarity: https://preview.redd.it/8i5vi3mvkr461.jpg?width=3840&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a1e1ceafe3843420f9651503302b281259b89c99
Step 8: Making Use of Captura Filters
Here I will simply discuss the filters which you should consider using and at which opacity. Burn, Black & White and Lotus Glow offer little to no value for your captura so I will not be discussing them. I will include a recommended opacity range for each filter:
Saturation: This bar is very useful to balance out colors. Slightly reducing it by 10% can provide a very good quality boost for your shot by making colors a bit more consistent with each other.
Contrast (40-70%): It enhances colors, including shades of grey, so expect your shades and shadows to get darker, I only recommend this in settings with enough light and I recommend against abusing it otherwise it will damage your image quality.
Blood (70-100%): Only to be used in a very dark setting if you want a sinister look.
Bleach (20-60%): To be used in slightly darker settings, slightly washes out colors and gives a nice bleak look to the image, recommended when seeking a more polished armor look.
Cross Process (30-70%): Enhances light and dark curves, gives a richer look to the image at the expense of shades, details will look less clear but the image will be more cinematic.
Negative (5-10%): Enhances outlines and lowers the contrast of black areas.
Edge of Shadows (10-40%): Enhances shadows and completely washes out colors.
Step 9: Bonus Tips
Unequip Your Companion before going into Captura.
Remove Background Distractions: Your frame must be the focal point of your shot, you thus need to try and minimize any unnecessary distractions in the background otherwise some might overshadow your fashion. To do this, simply minimize the image window, try getting off your chair, walk around a bit in your room, then get back on your computer and expand the image. If the first thing you see is not the frame or you needed a few seconds to fully acknowledge the frame, then you will need to make some edits to your scene.
STAND IN THE SHADE IN OUTDOOR SETTINGS: This is very important, aggressive sunlight can really damage your image quality by enhancing bloom effects and obscuring details. Try to minimize the amount of sun rays on your frame and try to rely more on 3 Light Settings.
You can use one of the 3 Lights to create an artificial shadow: Always remember, Main Light and Rim Light are in opposite directions, in some instances one can serve as a shadow if you color it dark. The shadow on my operator’s right side (from the previous operator fashion image) is in fact the Main Light colored in dark blue, this is something I found while experimenting with DS3 themes.
Take a lot of screenshots: You will frequently miss out on good shots because your eyes have adapted to the scene and the image. Trust me, capture images frequently, then delete later.
Step 10: ReShade!
ReShade is a 3rd party software/plugin that allows you to apply SweetFX filters to the game. It is used by many players and is one of the essential tools used to produce more unique captura shots. Here I will quickly explain how to install it, then give a quick overview of my personal presets that I’ve attached. I will also briefly explain what each setting does, I cannot go into too much detail otherwise this guide will turn into a novel. ReShade has a very large array of settings, explaining each one in detail is close to impossible, so you will need to familiarize yourself with it in order to use it more effectively, hopefully some of the presets here might give you a head start, but you will need to experiment with it. We all learn new things every time we use ReShade, the number of possible combinations is too large to cover. Installation Simply extract the contents of this ZIP into your Warframe game directory, which will be in Steam > Steamapps > Common > Warframe. Launch Warframe and you should see a bar at the top of the screen indicating that ReShade is active. Hit “Home” on your keyboard to access the ReShade menu. Skip through the quick tutorial. Now quickly go to Settings. In the “Effect Search Path” bar paste in the location of the Shaders folder which should normally be: “C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\Warframe\reshade-shaders-master\Shaders”. If your Steam folder is in a different location just change “C:\Program Files” to where your steam folder is located. In the “Texture Search Path” bar do the same thing but instead of the Shaders file paste the Texture folder’s location which should be: “C:\Program Files \Steam\steamapps\common\Warframe\reshade-shaders-master\Textures” Also in the “Screenshot Path” bar, paste the location of the file you want your shots to be placed in. You can also change the Screenshot Key and Overlay Key if you want. Congrats, ReShade is now fully installed. Presets: I’ve included 4 of my presets in the ZIP, you can select any of them or simply select the Default Preset file and create your own. Here’s how to switch between them: Under “Home” in the ReShade Menu select the bar just below it that says “DefaultPreset” and select what preset you want. If you can’t see them just navigate to your main Warframe folder (Steam > Steamapps > Common > Warframe), the three dots take you back a file. Normally the bar will automatically display the Warframe directory. Once you’re in the Warframe folder, just scroll down to one of these four presets and select the one you want:
Warframe Visual Boost [Light]: Simple and non-intrusive visual enhancement, you can normally play the game using this preset.
Warframe Realism Preset [Heavy]: Same preset but with a few tweaks for more visual realism, it enhances the visuals, but at the expense of performance, I don’t recommend using this for regular gameplay unless you have a high-tier GPU, because it will hit your FPS.
Warframe Ultra Cinematic Preset [Very Heavy]: I made this for those who want a cinematic overhaul when recording videos. It is very demanding, be warned. It used to push my old GTX970 to its limits, so if you don’t have a powerful GPU expect some serious overheating.
Zeezo's Unkindled Preset [Heavy]: A Captura preset that applies a Dark Souls effect to your game. I have used this preset for most of my Dark Souls Cosplays, however it is a bit demanding GPU-wise.
ReShade Guide: Just a quick overview of every ReShade tool:
AdaptiveFog / DepthHaze: Applies a distance fog (not recommended)
AdaptiveSharpen / FineSharp (Mode 1, 2 & 3) / HighPassSharpen / LumaSharpen / Filmic Anamorphic Sharpen: Sharpen Filters (each has a different level of intensity & grain).
AmbientLight: Bloom, mixed with Eye Adaptation and Lens Dirt
Colourfulness / Vibrance: Color Saturation Filters
Curves / Levels / Levels Plus: Changes contrast and enhances White and Black levels
DoF / Light DoF / Marty McFly DoF …etc: Depth of Field filters (different intensities)
DPX: Color grading + Gamma Enhancement
Daltonize: Color-Blind Adaptation (use the integrated Warframe tool instead)
Denoise / HQ4X / NonLocalMeans / KNearestNeighbors: Reduces Noise, recommended for overly sharp images, but will need tweaking
Eye Adaptation: Smart auto brightness adjustment, keep this on, it will help a lot
Emphasise: Focuses on one color and desaturates the rest
FXAA / SMAA: Anti-Aliasing Tools
FilmGrain: Grain Effect, also needs tweaking
GaussianBlur / SurfaceBlur: Refines & Blurs Edges or Surfaces
HDR: Fake HDR Effect, enhances light gradients and contrast
MultiLUT: FILTERS! They’re awesome, you might need to tweak their intensity first
MXAO / PPFX SSDO: Basically Extra Shaders, adds extra shadow maps to your image
Motion Blur: Stay away from it, it’s terrible
Perfect Perspective: Slight FishEye Effect
PPFX GodRays: God Rays, pretty broken so you need to tweak it in the menu
Reflective Bumpmapping: Soft Gloss effect, adds more realism, but very demanding
Sepia / Tint / Monochrome: color tint
TiltShift: Blurs top and bottom of your screen
Vignette: Adds black shades to screen edges
Captura Q&A
Q1: Can you export the settings of a captura shot? A1: Sadly not, every single position, location and angle will need different settings. Even if you take the settings of the most perfect captura shot, within the same scene, using the same frame, simply moving to a different location will render those settings useless. There is no shortcut to setting up lighting, you have to do it manually. Hopefully this guide will make that a bit easier for you. Q2: Does every Frame or Skin require different light settings, even in the same scene? A2: Yes, as explained in the guide, skin materials reflect/absorb light differently. Always be wary of your frame’s texture and adapt your settings accordingly. Smoother textures need less direct light (Rim Light is advised) while rougher textures might require some rigorous lighting for your frame to be visible. Q3: How do I get my Warframe to do idle animations in Captura? A3: Simply select the Synthesis Scanner. Your Warframe will unequip its weapon and go into idle state. You can change your animation types from within the scene by hitting ESC > Arsenal. Q4: Can I get my Warframe to walk? A4: There is no dedicated key for walking in Warframe, however, there are functions that allow you to move slower in a way that resembles walking. Either by equipping a Hobbled Dragon Key, Equipping the Synthesis Scanner then aiming with it while moving forward or if you’re using a joystick, just lightly tilt the right stick forward. Q5: Can I get my operator to walk? A5: Yes, first unequip your amp before going into captura, then hold aim while moving forward. Q6: Does Your Monitor Size Matter? A6: More than you might think. Ever wondered why many XBOX1 & PS4 shots look way smoother than most PC shots despite being in 1080p? Yes, it’s because they were screenshotted off a TV. When your shot is scaled down from a TV to a monitor, shades and color gradients become much clearer and more dynamic. So size does matter for captura, the bigger your screen the better the image quality. However, it is by no means necessary, it’s a bonus yes, but you can easily get smooth shots with good settings. Every single one of my shots has been taken off a 19” 1080p screen, but they would have definitely looked better if taken off a large TV screen. Q7: Will you be making a Photoshop Tutorial on how to create Game Crossovers? A7: Most definitely! just not very soon. Creating a Photoshop tutorial requires video recording, and a decent level of editing. This will need some time to record and finalize, time is not ample for me these days, so it might be awhile before I find the time to sit down and record a tutorial, but it will be coming, I promise you that.
If you need any further help, guidance or aid in making your capturas please do not hesitate to ask. I also offer feedback and support on ourDiscord serverwhere many captura artists are aiding in providing valuable feedback for the fashion frame community.
Reading Oculus product lit online informed me that if no other game controller is plugged into the computer, Oculus (Link) games can be played using "gamepad emulation" mode which can be turned on per game in the Oculus app game library. So I think I understand most of that (?). Looks like the game author has to enable it, and you have to be launching the game from Oc app. This is probably pretty cool, except that I seldom use Link and Oculus app. All my VR games -- except Lone Echo -- are in my Steam library not Oculus, and I usually play using wifi and VD not Link. The playspace is colocated with the router, not the gaming PC. Has anyone found a way to play SteamVR pancake games in big screen theatre mode, using the (perfectly adequate) buttons, joysticks and switches on the Touch controllers as a gamepad? That could be fun. Inquiring minds etc...
[Warframe] Captura Tutorial | An Advanced Guide to High Quality Fashion Shots
Aside from Step 1 & Step 10, everything else applies for both PC & Console. https://preview.redd.it/wwwylziq5v861.png?width=3676&format=png&auto=webp&s=e672594c793333e7aa79edc39df5ecfd369fb603
Example: https://preview.redd.it/jn1mmuc39j461.png?width=3840&format=png&auto=webp&s=6f3e685c71ff3431b546365e510009febdb3f0dd
The rotation + intensity changes show how simple shifts in light rotations were greatly impacting shot quality, despite the shifts not being drastic, you can clearly see a noticeable jump in quality and clarity: https://preview.redd.it/oxayusw69j461.jpg?width=3840&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=21adc0c9a1582ddc6e8d79aa44482c8f7405a0f4
3 Quick Tl;Dr Android Game Reviews / Recommendations (Episode 153)
Happy first Friday of December! :) And welcome back to my roundup of the most interesting mobile games I played this week. This week, I played a new multiplayer arena shooter, a unique action dungeon-crawler RPG, and a polished hero collector RPG with an interesting real-time combat system. Disagree with my opinion? Let’s have a friendly discussion below. New to these posts? Check out the first one from 153 weeks ago here. The games are "ranked" somewhat subjectively from best to worst, so take the ranking for what it is.
Genre: Shooter / PvP / Arena / Action / Dark / Indie - Requires Online Access Orientation: Landscape Required Attention: Full tl;dr review: Hellfire is a multiplayer arena first-person shooter that draws inspiration from old PC titles such as Quake III Arena and Unreal Tournament to create a dark, gritty, and high-intensity 2-8 player shooter experience with no pay-to-win. The indie game features 4 deathmatch maps that unlock as we level up. All players start each match with the same weapon, while better weapons, HP recovery orbs, and Shield recharges are scattered around the small map. The first player to reach the kill goal wins. The simple controls feature a left-side joystick, and two buttons to switch weapons and quickly dash forward. There are both manual and auto-fire options, but I personally think the auto-fire gives the game exactly the fast-paced feel it should have. The main downsides are that there are too few weapons and too few players, the latter of which means we often end up playing bots. However, since we can create our own private rooms, the game is perfect to play with friends – and this is where Hellfire really shines. Hellfire monetizes through premium currency iAPs ranging from $1.99 to $29.99 that are used to unlock new vanity cosmetic characters that provide no gameplay advantages. At this point, the game just needs more players, content, and polish to expand its solid foundation. Google Play: Here MiniReview link: Here
Drake n Trap [Game Size: 299 MB] (free)
Genre: RPG / Action / Strategy / Top-down / Dungeon-crawler - Offline + Online Orientation: Landscape Required Attention: Full tl;dr review: Drake n Trap is a unique action dungeon crawler RPG where we lead our main character and a team of spawnable fantasy heroes through dungeons full of traps, chests, monsters, and bosses in both PvE and PvP game modes. Before heading into the 500 dungeon levels, we define a deck of five heroes that each have unique stats, abilities, and a mana cost. During combat, we use a left-side joystick to control our character while spawning multiple of each hero by spending mana that recovers over time. The heroes trace our main character and automatically attack nearby enemies and traps unless we tap a button to make them passive. The strategy and almost puzzle-like nature of the dungeons force us to constantly switch between aggressive and passive hero behavior to avoid traps and strong boss attacks, which creates a fun and engaging gameplay experience. In addition to the normal dungeons, the game features both a ranked mode and an arena where we must finish a dungeon faster than six other players who recently played the same dungeon. Drake n Trap monetizes through incentivized ads and iAPs to unlock and level up heroes faster, acquire high-tier loot, and recover energy. The energy system limits our play-session length, but we get so much energy and premium currency for free through achievements and daily rewards that the game can easily be enjoyed as a free player. As a casual gamer with a slow PC, xCloud and Gamepass is amazing
So I just stumbled upon xCloud after trying to find a way to play games with my boyfriend. I have an old computer so it's always been a struggle to find something to play with him and because of my work schedule and overall business I often don't have much time either. So I bought 3 months of ultimate subscription for 1 euro yesterday and tried it out being a bit skeptic about latency... much to my surprise the experience was practically flawless. I am fortunate to have a fast internet connection, and I couldn't believe that lag was imperceptible. I mean... I'm definitely not one who plays competitive games so I'm surely not good at noticing lag, but from what I experienced I wouldn't have been able to tell it was a streamed game or a game playing locally if I didn't know beforehand. And then there's the thing of being able to play any game on Gamepass without having to spend further money or even having to wait for the game to download <3 The only downside I experienced is not gamepass related, and it's that my PS3 and Steam controller are not compatible with Android and I had to use a crappy generic android controller without a right joystick to play some of the games (which is impossible for some that require camera steering like the Outerworlds). Touch controls are great and I hope that all games get to have them, but they do clutter up the screen and sometimes I found them to be too sensitive. I better buy a new compatible controller. Also, if anyone at Microsoft Reads this, please allow us to change the transparency value of the touch controls. Being barely able to see them should be enough in most cases. Anyways, I wanted to share my positive feedback and also use this opportunity to ask about tips and tricks in general. Anything I should keep in mind down the line? I won't start to get billed until March, so that definitely gives me a lot of time to try it out. I just feel that Gamepass and xCloud is such a great idea to invite your family to play multiplayer games even if they don't have a console or don't play games often. Especially now that it's just 1 euro for 3 months, it's tempting to tell friends and play something like Minecraft Dungeons... Oh wait, that brings me to my last question: What online multiplayer games would you recommend? Thanks <3 EDIT: Oh, sorry about that! I have another question if you don't mind. I just learned about scrcpy to view the games on my PC monitor and tried it out. It works great, but is there a way to map certain keyboard buttons to android actions? Maybe I could play with mouse and keyboard some games. Thanks again! Daniel
Halo Players, please leave feedback to encourage 343 to give MCC *actual* Steam Controller Support
Up to this point, I've been able to use the Steam Controller to play MCC online by using a controller profile which "hotswaps" between gamepad and KB+M profiles by using "long press." However, the newest update disables that feature in multiplayer. This update effectively makes the steam controller unusable in MCC as a gamepad. Link to the feedback thread is here. I've copy and pasted my reply here, but please make yours personalized so they don't think I'm a bot and disregard giving support to this wonderful input device.
MCC HALO GAME: All of them, multiplayer
FEEDBACK: The new input matchmaking has broken the Steam Controller on this game. We can play infantry matches, but vehicles (especially banshees) are unusable with steam controller set up as a gamepad. When using "mouse-like joystick" on the right pad to look around, for whatever reason, the turning speed of the cursor is slower in a vehicle than it is outside of a vehicle. The turning speed does not change when a player goes from being on foot to being a passenger in a warthog or a mongoose. This is heartbreaking because now I need to choose between my favorite input type and rumble-- and halo without rumble just isn't as immersive.
ADDITIONAL INFO: This is a problem which Steam Controller users could work around by switching from gamepad to KB+M as the output of the controller. The change in look sensitivity between being on foot or in a vehicle does not happen when using a mouse. The workaround of switching controller output is no longer an option with the latest update. Moreover, this has been a problem since launch. Here is a video demonstrating the problem. https://youtu.be/2Eg7ocGmaQY?t=312

Tekken 7 is so trash that it makes SFV the better fighting game. EVEN MIKE ROSS SAID TEKKEN 7 IS THE WORST FIGHTING GAME OUT RIGHT NOW, WORSE THAN SFV!!! Don't believe me? Watch this: https://streamable.com/wufha THEN read this: https://i.redd.it/qajensfr1zgz.png One wrong guess IN tEKKEN 7 and you're losing over 50% of your life, and that's without v-trigger! Surely it has nothing to do with I don't like SFV for the same reasons I don't like Tekken. Tekken is just like SFV where both players just wanna rush each other down and play the high damage rock paper scissor game to death and that is why many people are saying SFV should be 3/5. SFV is more like a 3d fighter than a traditional 2D SF game we all love. Tekken 7 also emphasizes on paper rock scissors more than the average fighting game on the market and that is why the developers made it 3/5 in-game instead of the traditional 2/3. tekken is trash, but not only for those reasons, but the follow: Here's the list of what we the Tekken 7 community consider to be SOME of the biggest issues (original thread: https://www.reddit.com/Tekken/comments/6sdijh/lets_create_a_list_of_tekken_7_issues_in_order_of/?sort=top):
Reduce PS4 Input Lag
Reduce load times (simplified from "No loading when accepting Revenge Match")
More options on the online "warm-up" room
All-play lobbies for Player Match (ex: Skullgirls or KOF 14)
More customization options
Cross-play between consoles and PC
Save Replays on the game's server for later viewing (ex: Guilty Gear XRD, Street Fighter V)
Button config while selecting character online
Proper ragequitter punishment
Improving online netcode
Add Online Training Mode
"Points Until Promotion/Demotion" Meter for Ranked mode
Rematch option in Player Matches
Add Tutorial
Improved Tournament Mode
Add Jukebox to PC version
In-game frame data
In addition to these many aspects of the game that needs improvement, and aside from being heavy in guessing games, and I know I'm going against the circlejerk when I say this here, but I already sold the game. Tekken 7 mechanics are ok at best but the online is straight ass in consoles. No one can ever finish a tournament because hosts quit as soon as they lose, player matches take way too fucking long to load, and ranked is only serviceable now that you can rematch multiple times. Coming from GG that shows the frame delay for every match, T7's online is straight up embarrassing. These problems that are very similar to SFV. Yet Namcucks defend T7 with Capcuck like excuses as
I can react to things in neutral and on block even with 8 frames
Except 8 frames of lag affects blocking and neutral, to the point that Tekken 7 Evo grand finalists are saying they have to change their playstyle. SOUNDS FAMILAR NAMCUCKS? Just like SFV when it had 8 frames. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ralpWfTaL-A&feature=youtu.be&t=4m7s
Tekken 7 competes with Pokken for EVO entrants not SFV or even Smash.
Tekken 7 has no cross play after 3 years in beta
Tekken 7 has lost 85% of it's online population in the first month.
Tekken 7 has 8 frames of input lag, more than SFV
Tekken 7 takes longer to load than SFV and it was hated on here and yet no crying about Tekken 7.
Tekken 7 has no rematch button meaning you have to go through all the loading times again to rematch
Tekken 7 has broken lobbies and matchmaking on PS4
Tekken 7 has horrible net code on PC
Harada is like that wannabe cool cree uncle at your family parties that secretly likes underage girls
Tekken 7 has no tutorial after 3 years in beta
Tekken 7 first major after release (CEO) had 250 entrants. This was the first part of the Tekken Pro Tour and had less entrants than Smash, Injustice and SFV.
Fake hype and you idiots cry about West Coast players shilling. Those idiots get paid you just spam pretending Tekken 7 will last. http://steamcharts.com/app/389730 #sinkfighter Complete? They can't fix the arotcious loading and matchmaking on console, so they brought PC down with it to make it everything fair for buyers. hahahahhaah sad thing is the pretending namcucks will still defend this trash game even though and pretend it's nothing like SFV outside of the gameplay
They delayed Tekken 7 release date to avoid mistakes and shit that SFV/MK made.
How did they avoid the same mistakes when they committed the same mistakes as SFV? 3 years to release Tekken 7 almost zero singleplayer content, 8 frames of input lag, broken online features & matchmaking just like SFV LOL SOUNDS FAMILIAR MY FELLOW NAMCUCKS AND CAPCUCKS? In addition to Crapco killing the Tekken series by making it less like traditional Tekken gameplay with shitty new mechanics and shitty newly character redesigns in Tekken 7.2 frames of input lag: Tekken 7.2 also has the following:
8 frames of built-in input delay lag
Player connection errors
Broken Lobbies
Atrocious loading times *48 seconds, almost 20 seconds longer than SFV
No rematch button meaning you have to waste time reloading a match again and again
Namcucks defending trash like this are no different than the capcucks. Increasing the input delay to 7.2 frames of input lag affects your character movement in neutral. Movement on the joystick is 0 frames you fucking retarded namcucks. This makes neutral feel shittier than any other Tekken title before it, making it more paper rock scissor and less about reactions. Yes the game is still playable like other bad games like SFV when it had that much delay, but it is unnecessary and damaging to the gameplay which adds to the clunky ass 3d fighter feel, yet NAMCUCKS AND CAPCUCKS defend it. http://www.avoidingthepuddle.com/news/2017/6/1/findings-from-noodalls-tekken-7-input-lag-averages-at-72-fra.html 48 seconds to load a fucking tekken 7.2 match, nearly 20 seconds longer than SFV https://twitter.com/KyonumAzzz/status/870725909300498432
NO CONTENT- you complained about SF5 but damn is the single player content low in this game. Average length story mode(with a story thats shit even by fighting game story standards), 5 stage arcade mode with no character endings,
ONE FUCKING STAGE character sidestories, endless survival mode thats only used to get cosmetics(where did i hear that before?) and practice mode. Thats fucking it for singleplayer. Namco had a chance to get all those casual that were disappointed by SF5 but they put nothing in the game actually for them.
Zero fucking tutorials or heck anything that actually teaches you how to play. Guess those 30+ gigs are for stupid Car hats to put on Akuma.
Technical issues- 8 FRAMES on consoles plus 48 sec load times.
On PC the game likes to minimize itself during online matches when someone lands a Rage art and doesnt maximize until the match is over so have fun losing.
Searching the lobby lists takes 10+ sec and you have to do it again every time you dont manage to connect to a lobby or the other guy refuses.
YOU CANT FUCKING LEAVE PLAYER MATCH LOBBIES WHILE SOMEONE ELSE IS IN A MATCH! There is no option to leave at all you are stuck there or you have to forcefully close the game. But worse of all i am pretty sure they made Asukas tits smaller. What the fuck Harada? Bring back Tekken 5 Asuka.
hi i am nathan aka the legendary tron on twitch. i have a disability called cerebral palsy. i just wanted to tell you my background how i came to be a gamer and twitch streamer. i became a gamer whenever I was a child , my family had nintindo, at that time i was able to use both hands. i had a joystick pad for that system , same goes for the sega genesis console throughout my late childhood and early teenage years. whenever I was 14 or 15. my mom and grandparents decided to get me my 1st laptop for communication and school work. little that they know that i was self teaching myself computers whenever I was in front of moms pc and dads pc at the time, back then i had to use the good old mouse keys on the number pad. while I was on the laptop i played quite a few games . i wonder if you remember a game called heavy gear, it's like a mech warrior type of game, and i also played star craft whenever it came out, let's fast forward to the year 2016. by then i have my own gaming rig and beginning of my streaming career. at that time i gotten my head tracking mouse called smartnav but nowadays it is discontinued. mine is still alive and kicking , its alot easier on me to operate my pc. anyway back to when I became the disabled tron on twitch. i was playing eve online, its a sandbox space simulation game. i was watching this dude named gommel nox, also known as , accessible gamer on twitch, we became best friends and play war frame together sometimes, he is physically disabled but with a different disability. he inspired me to start streaming, and so I did with help getting a 2nd screen . there's 1 problem though, i can't speak well because of my cerebral palsy, all i can do is type in twitch chat however I wanted something more, a text to speech system that helps me speak , i found a few but didn't really match my needs so I done quite a bit research and found this program called stream talker for the twitch chat , i was in awe by the program . because it suits my needs, i contacted the dev and we started talking, i gave him a ton of feedback . in return , he made me a separate text to speech system. the 1 that's speaking now. from that point on i began growing my twitch community called. the grid. as the legendary tron, all i care about is making people feel better and making them smile and have a good time on my stream and help spread disability awareness and just have fun on stream. hope you enjoyed my back story, if you like to see me live on twitch . i will put my twitch link below. i will be live almost every night 730pm till 1130pm or earlier EST. Noob console convert with some questions and concerns
Quick background. I'm a software engineer that has built many PCs over the years, I have a 48TB media server in the basement, a PS3 with a few dozen games, a house full of home automation, and my first time playing a PC game was back when you would execute "run doom.exe" without ever having to boot into Windows. What I'm trying to say is I'm comfortable around technology and typically don't have many problems with it. Probably nine months ago I decided to pick up an Xbox One X to enjoy Forza and eventually MS Flight Sim plus anything new that isn't released on the aging PS3. Turns out, the Logitech racing wheel that I've been using on the PS3 doesn't work on the Xbox without a $90 adapter. I bought it since that's a better option than buying a new wheel from the limited selection of Xbox-ready wheels. Now I'm ready to buy MS Flight Sim and want to go full HOTAS. Again, limited selection of Xbox-ready options so I decide it's time to jump to PC gaming where I can use basically any peripheral. Obviously there are differences between console and PC gaming but some Googling around seemed like it wouldn't be that bad (you need to keep the OS up-to-date, you need to ensure components work together, it's not just plug-n-play, etc.). My goal was to build a PC, buy some games on Steam, and just use an Xbox One controller as if I were using a console. I'm not interested in streaming, online communities, etc. I just want to play some games. However, having now built my PC and trying to get started, I'm facing problems that I never anticipated. My big question is are these problems that I just don't yet know how to work around or is this simply the state of PC gaming in 2020?
First concern: Counter Strike was free-to-play on Steam and since I've been a terrible Call of Duty player for years but still enjoyed the occasional FPS on the PS3 I figured I would give it a shot. I was able to find, download, install, launch, and play the game (terribly) with a controller but the main game menu still required the use of a mouse to navigate (or using the controller joystick which was practically impossible). Googling tells me that FPSs are awful with a controller and really need a keyboard/mouse. Fair enough, I'm not huge into FPSs anyway (maybe because I've only ever used a controller and suck) but it's good to know. That said, after enabling controller support, navigating the game menu to get into the actual game play still required a keyboard/mouse.
Second concern: Grand Theft Auto was a childhood staple and when I saw GTA V in Steam it seemed like a good controller-based game to try out the new PC. After three hours of downloading, attempting to launch the game brings up a window (hidden behind the Steam window) that says I need to install Rockstar Games Launcher, Rockstar Social Club Framework, Rockstar Games Authentication Software, etc. This lead me down the path of Googling "PC game launchers" only to find out that every studio has their own. If I need to download Rockstar Games Launcher anyway, what is the point is buying in Steam?
Third concern: On a console, my wife and I can have different accounts and/or different save games so that we can each play a game without interfering with each others progress. Using Steam on a PC it sounds like we each need to have separate Windows account so that game save data is dumped into user-specific save directories (probably AppData?). No big deal for a game that is installed for all users on the PC. But that's for Steam. I Google for the same functionality in Rockstar Games and they clearly state that "titles cannot be shared between Social Club accounts." So, if we both want to pay GTA V, we both need to buy it? That's a massive departure from console gaming.
TLDR: I thought PC gaming would be a little more straight forward. Can someone help clarify some questions I have?
Is PC gaming with a controller actually a viable option or will I still encounter the constant need to use a keyboard/mouse?
Do you really just end up downloading a new launcher for every game publisher and playing games through their launcher? Should games be bought from the developer or Steam (e.g. should I buy GTA V from Steam or Rockstar? MS Flight Sim from Steam or directly from MS?)
How can two people in the same house, on the same PC, buy a game once and play it independently with their own saved data? Does this vary from game to game?
I knew PC gaming would be different but didn't expect such a controller-disadvantaged, multiple-launcher-required, single-person-focused experience. Perhaps this is a case of "you're doing PC gaming wrong" and someone can help point me in the right direction to get the most enjoyment out of my new investment.
In these weeks i'm searching about this topic, because i use a PS3 controller in pc since 6 years, (and 10 in his normal use, in a PS3 Console), so the battery is getting old and when I pressed two buttons in the same time, another button is pressed. For example I press D-Pad right and X button and the Triangle button is pressed because yes. So this is funny to see in games like GTA V, trying again the mission in online because that. Fortunately I have another PS3 controller more new that the came with the console 10 years ago. But I thinking in changed it and let it sleep eternally. So my choices are the Xbox Series Controller, specially the Blue color because I looks sexy, the PS5 Dualsense Controller and the Switch Pro Controller. Why this controllers? Well: The Xbox Series Controller because: • is Windows Friendly, that means i don't bother for the drivers don't work, or i don't have vibration because the drivers, or my controller freaks out while i charging, etc. Is for Windows 10 • I heard the shape improves since the Xbox One Controller, the grip and feel is good with the new texture, and back to 2009 when i feel the Xbox 360 controller, I wanted a Xbox controller because is more comfortable than the PlayStation controller. • For me looks so beautiful, comparing it with the others i've mentioned in here • Is not problem for me, but looking the right buttons in the games according the controller, see Y in the game and controller. Not Triangle only in the controller. • The d-pad looks great i think for tetris and old games/plataformers i want to play. The PS5 Dualsense because: • Too much content creators says this controller is so comfortable and so grippy • The adaptive triggers buys me, looks so attractive and it is implemented so great in shooters (i don't play shooters with controller but only for this technology wants me to play it that way), but I don't know if sony or a third-party driver enable this for PC and the developers want to implement this on the newer and existing PC Games, And I'm doubting because i see on several pages the PS4 Controller the touchpad and the speaker is not fully enhanced or supported in PC drivers, so that's the thing • The black color looks so beautiful for me, i want it only in that color i don't like in white. Or something in blue, so i must to wait for that editions. •The same for the rumble applies to the adaptive triggers, only hopes sony or a person and the developers adapt this to PC The Switch Pro Controller: • I have a Switch, so i use it in that and PC. Because the Joycons are not the best • The buttons of the control looks so clicky and confortable and the Joystick is not getting drift like the joycons. • My friends says the battery longs too much with life, more than the new generation of consoles i think • The dpad its not great but is ok • The rumble i heard is great. So this is my opinions about the controllers, i want a confortable control and i play adventure games, racing games, and sometimes tetris marathon. If i choose another controller and i want to use it on switch, can i buy the 8bitdo adapter, so i can't get stucked for the pro controller to my decision. What do you think? Which controller I listed here is the best for PC? Thanks for see this post!
